Using an online marketing system to build a MLM is one of the first things you will need to learn to be successful. A word of caution to start. You need to know there are hundreds, if not thousands, of so called “Internet Marketing Gurus” out there that are hungry for your money. An over-whelming number of systems and cutting-edge techniques being tossed about daily; endlessly. So, the ‘Golden Rule of Consumerism’ holds especially true for the Internet; “Buyer Beware!” Take the time for due diligence. You are responsible.

Another thing you will hear quite often is, “The money in your list!” That simply means you want to work to gather the names and contact information to so be able to contact them in the future. It will serve you no long-term success to give that information away to someone else to profit from now, and in the future. So, it might be well worthwhile to get your own domain name and web hosting account.

When you have decided upon a domain name, you can decide if you want to use any number tools to build your own website, or simply go with a ‘blogging platform’. There are distinct advantages, and maintenance, involved with each option. The one thing you want to do, no matter which you decide to go with, is learn to put up a ‘landing’ or ‘capture’ page.

Another advantage is you then will have the ways and means to create your landing, or capture page, to gather the contact information of your visitors. This is an essential tool and can be set up any number of ways. You will then need to find some incentive to get people to give you their information. You will want at least a first name and email address. For relationship building in MLM, a phone number, and maybe a mailing address, can be beneficial. However, some may be very leery of providing that right off the bat. Leave it optional, and get at least the name and email to start.

Offer them something of value for no cost. There are plenty of free software programs and reports available. Anything to motivate them to allow you to contact them again. Then you will need an automated way to follow-up with the delivery of the product, and a series of reports or emails, to lead them to your offer. An auto-responder is the tool-of-choice for most starting out.

Many times you will find the auto-responder is included with your website hosting provider. There are several companies that will provide the service, usually for a monthly fee. The benefit is you will have a way to stay in contact with your potential clients and customers automatically. You will simply set-up a series of emails to be sent and you determine the frequency. There are specific laws you must know, and comply with, regarding email marketing.

Generating traffic, or visitors, is the key to being successful online. Just like your local stores need foot-traffic, you need eyeballs looking at your offer. There are free and paid services to reach that goal. This is where you must be careful. Know who you are purchasing services from and have proof they accomplish what they say they will do. PPC (Pay-per-click) can also be very effective, and costly. Learn a lot before you jump in. Instead, look for free and low-cost ways to get started.

Using an online marketing system to build a MLM is well worth any and all efforts to learn. Be patient. No business is built over-night. It will require some knowledge and work. Otherwise, everyone would do it if it was an easy and lazy way to make money. Your MLM should have some solid tips and experience as to what works. Start there, learn your products and services, and get started. Getting started is the key to any, and all success.
